About Me

Film Photographer Dedicated to Fashion and Editorial Work

I’m Mandy Left, a film photographer from the Canary Islands, now based in the UK. My work centers on fashion photography, where I enjoy the boundless potential of crafting alternate realities. For me, fashion photography is an invitation to create dreams and fantasies—a space where ideas, emotions, and even memories can come alive. Shooting in the studio allows for this focused vision to unfold, like a stage where my team and I bring each scene to life, undistracted by the outside world.

Portraiture is equally central to my work. I’m drawn to photographing people, cherishing the unique connections that form in these moments. Each portrait session is not just about capturing an image but about engaging in a playful, shared experience that deepens our understanding of each other.

From this love of connection, I founded OnlyFilms in 2022, a collective for film photographers who share a passion for analog processes. This community has grown organically as a space for film photographers to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and explore the art of film. Together, we support each other’s creative journeys, hosting events, and championing film photography as an art form and cultural heritage.

Why film?

I shoot exclusively on film because I find joy in working with a physical, tangible medium. Handling a negative, developing it by hand, and seeing a print come to life in the darkroom provides a satisfaction that’s both deeply personal and timeless. To me, manual work is a fundamental human activity, and film photography allows me to connect fully with the creation process—from the initial shot to the final print.

Influences

My work is influenced by classical art, literature, and my lifelong connection to the sea. Growing up in the Canary Islands, the sea became part of my vision and my inspiration—a vast, mysterious landscape that I continue to explore through photography and poetry. The sea speaks to me of nostalgia, reverence, and endless creative possibilities. I often find myself returning to it as both a subject and a muse.
